Takapuna man charged with threatening to kill National MP Dan Bidois

A 29-year-old Takapuna man faced court on 11 August 2026, charged with threatening to kill National MP Dan Bidois. Police say the threat was sent via social media in November 2025. Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Williams said the investigation began in December. The charge carries a maximum seven-year sentence. Police have not explained the nine-month gap between the alleged offence and the court appearance.
