Man charged after allegedly threatening MP Dan Bidois online

A 29-year-old Takapuna man appeared in court on 11 August 2026 charged with threatening to kill National MP Dan Bidois. Police say the threat was sent on social media in November 2025. Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Williams said police began investigating in December. The charge carries up to seven years in prison. Police have not said why it took nine months to reach court.
