Takapuna man charged with threatening to kill National MP Dan Bidois

A 29-year-old Takapuna man appeared in court on 11 August 2026 charged with threatening to kill National MP Dan Bidois. The alleged threat was sent via social media in November 2025. Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Williams said police began investigating in December. The charge carries a maximum seven-year prison sentence. Police have not explained the nine-month gap between the alleged offence and the court appearance.
