Luxon survives caucus confidence vote; Penk sacked and exiting Parliament

Christopher Luxon survived a confidence vote at National's emergency caucus meeting on Wednesday, remaining leader and prime minister. He sacked challenger Chris Penk from all portfolios; Penk will not seek re-election. Former press secretary Janet Wilson said the leadership question remains unsettled. No other challenger has declared. The election is set for November.
