Luxon survives caucus confidence vote, but leadership tensions unresolved

Christopher Luxon survived a caucus confidence vote at Wednesday's emergency meeting, remaining National leader and prime minister. He sacked Chris Penk, who mounted the challenge, from all portfolios; Penk will not seek re-election. Former National press secretary Janet Wilson said the leadership matter had not been settled. No alternative challenger has declared. The election is set for November.
