Amazon Pulls the Plug on New World, Exits Western Live-Ops Games

Amazon will shut down New World: Aeternum on January 31, 2027 — its only internally developed MMO, with no successor. Externally developed titles Throne and Liberty and Lost Ark return to their original studios in late 2026 and early 2027. The move completes Amazon's October 2025 retreat from first-party AAA game development.
