Amazon Shuts Down Its Only Internally Developed MMO as It Exits Western Live-Ops

Amazon will take New World: Aeternum offline on January 31, 2027 — the sole internally developed MMO in its portfolio, with no successor. Externally developed titles Throne and Liberty (to FirstSpark/NC, Q4 2026) and Lost Ark (to Smilegate, early 2027) return to their original studios. The move completes Amazon's October 2025 shift away from first-party AAA games.
