Luxon strips Penk of all portfolios after leadership challenge

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has removed Chris Penk from all five ministerial portfolios — Defence, Veterans, Space, GCSB and NZSIS — after Penk challenged Luxon for the leadership, forcing a confidence vote in the National caucus. Luxon called Penk's position untenable. Paul Goldsmith has taken on all five portfolios.
