Luxon sacks Penk from all portfolios after leadership challenge

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has removed Chris Penk from all ministerial portfolios — Defence, Veterans, Space, GCSB and NZSIS — after Penk launched a leadership challenge that triggered a confidence vote in the National caucus. Luxon said Penk's position was untenable. The Prime Minister's office confirmed Penk was challenging for himself. Paul Goldsmith has absorbed all five portfolios.
