Cambridge Opens £20M Hub to Grow Miniature Human Organs for Drug Testing

Cambridge has launched a £20 million hub, funded by the Medical Research Council, to grow organoids — tiny clusters of human tissue — from NHS patients' cells for drug testing. Over 90% of drugs that pass animal testing fail in human trials. The hub will build a standardised organoid library for researchers and pharma companies, part of a UK strategy to reduce animal use.
