FBI and Homeland Security now monitor anti-AI protests as security threats

Federal agencies including the FBI and Department of Homeland Security have begun treating opposition to data centers and AI technology as a domestic security concern. Over 1,000 unpublished reports show they are surveilling anti-technology protests. In April 2022, these agencies jointly flagged what they called "Anti-Tech Extremism," applying counterterrorism methods traditionally used for foreign threats to monitor domestic technology resistance movements.
