Venezuela's Leader and US Prosecutors Suggest 2027 Trial

At a July 22, 2026 Brooklyn hearing, Nicolás Maduro's lawyers and US prosecutors jointly proposed starting his trial in June 2027. That's over six years after his 2020 charges of drug trafficking (illegally smuggling drugs). The judge hasn't set a date yet. Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores could face life in prison if found guilty of sending cocaine into the US.
