Maduro and US Prosecutors Jointly Propose June 2027 Trial in Drug Trafficking Case
At a July 22, 2026 Brooklyn hearing, Nicolás Maduro's defense and Justice Department prosecutors jointly proposed a June 2027 trial start. The date would sit over six years after the original 2020 narco-terrorism indictment. Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein has not yet set a date. Maduro and wife Cilia Flores face life sentences if convicted of conspiring to send cocaine into the US.
