North East bus fares to stay cheaper than the national limit

Bus fares in North East England will stay capped at £1 for young people and £2.50 for adults until March 2027, Mayor Kim McGuinness said. That is cheaper than the £3 national limit for England outside London. The region is paying the difference itself. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland run their own bus systems separately.
