Thousands of government workers offered pay rises that fall behind rising prices
About 2,700 staff at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment stopped work on Wednesday. Their union, the PSA, is negotiating for more than 10,000 government workers across four agencies. All have been offered pay rises that won't keep up with the rising cost of living. Immigration officers, most earning about $70,000, are the biggest group affected. MBIE did not comment.
