UN Expert Joins Lawsuit Against Australian Gas Project Extension

A UN human rights expert can now advise a federal court challenging Environment Minister Watt's approval to extend Woodside's North West Shelf gas project to 2070. The expert cites a 2025 world court ruling that a healthy environment is a human right. Conservation groups ACF and Fara argue Watt didn't properly consider pollution and heritage damage before approving the extension.
