Hipkins promises to bring back election-day sign-up

Labour leader Chris Hipkins has promised to undo a new law that stops people signing up to vote on election day. Voters who arrive on 7 November without being enrolled will have their votes thrown out. Hipkins said the law "potentially disenfranchises tens of thousands of New Zealanders." Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith called that "just speculation."
