Support for Labour and National falls to lowest point in decades

A 1News Verian poll released around 23 June 2026 put Labour and National's combined support at a 30-year low. Luxon (18%) and Hipkins (16%) together drew just 34% as preferred PM — the lowest combined figure for the two main party leaders in 33 years. The Opportunity Party neared the 5% vote share a party needs to get into Parliament.
