Labour and National at 30-year low as combined preferred PM ratings hit 33-year trough

A 1News Verian poll released around 23 June 2026 put Labour and National's combined support at a 30-year low. Luxon (18%) and Hipkins (16%) totalled just 34% in preferred PM ratings reported 6 July — the lowest combined figure for the two main party leaders in 33 years. The Opportunity Party neared the 5% threshold in the same poll.
