New Electric Mountain Bikes Get Lighter While Keeping Good Battery Life
Canyon has updated two of its electric mountain bikes with a smaller, lighter battery. The new battery holds 800 watt-hours of power (think of this like how much gas is in a tank) and weighs 150 grams less than the old battery, even though the old one could store more energy. This is good news because lighter bikes are easier to control and less tiring to ride on mountains. The lighter battery is possible because of newer, more efficient technology—similar to how newer cars get better gas mileage with smaller engines. These bikes also use a Shimano motor (the part that provides the power) and come with a two-year warranty. Canyon is betting that riders who are willing to pay more will appreciate bikes that are easier to handle and less exhausting to use.
