Rivian Starts Building a Cheaper Electric Truck

Electric vehicle maker Rivian has begun manufacturing its R2 model—a more affordable truck than its current offering—at its Illinois factory. The shift from building just one model to two is crucial. To survive, Rivian needs to produce enough vehicles and keep costs low enough to make money. Early units went to employees; regular customers will follow.
