Texas Plans Execution After Another State's Failed Attempt

Texas plans to put Jamaal Howard to death Oct. 7 by injection with pentobarbital, a strong sleep drug. Tennessee used the same drug last week when its attempt to put Christa Pike to death failed. This would be the first U.S. execution since then. Howard’s lawyers asked to stop it over similar dangers, but a Texas court said no.
