UN Council Extends Darfur Sanctions to Dec. 11

The 15-member UN Security Council unanimously passed Resolution 2830 on Oct. 9, 2026, keeping Darfur's arms embargo — a weapons-transfer ban — plus travel bans and asset freezes until Dec. 11, 2026. The two-month rollover keeps its monitoring experts until Jan. 11, 2027, allowing more talks on widening measures as Sudan's war since April 2023 continues.
