Nikkei Slips 0.9% to 70,035 on Oct. 7

Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 648.27 points, or 0.92%, to close at 70,035.71 on Oct. 7, 2026, Mainichi reported. That is less than one percent, but sounds big because the index is so high. In my view for retirement savers, this is ordinary movement, not evidence about Japan's economy.
