Rights Group Says Morocco Secretly Spied on Reporters' Phones

Amnesty International says Morocco's DGST spy agency illegally spied on journalists and activists by secretly controlling phones like holding them, planting listening devices and handing out phones already wired to listen. Its Oct. 1 report, Inside Morocco's surveillance machine, based on a former insider, leaked papers and investigations, says the Pegasus phone tool was used from 2017 to 2021.
