Thieves Make Off With 800 Barrels of Guinness

Thieves drove two large trucks into Diageo's Runcorn depot, each hooking up to a loaded trailer of Guinness barrels. One left at 7:55pm; the second followed 90 minutes later toward Rainhill. About 800 barrels — roughly 70,400 pints worth £115,000, plus trailers valued at £205,000 — were stolen. Cheshire police are appealing for witnesses.
