Final Fantasy Resonance: A New Game with a Retro Look

Square Enix's Final Fantasy Resonance launches October 22, 2026, on PC, PS5, and Switch. It is the first Final Fantasy game to use HD-2D, a style that blends old-fashioned blocky character graphics with modern lighting and camera blur for a fresh look. Developed by LANCARSE, it turns a mobile phone storyline into a full, standalone role-playing game. A playable demo was announced at State of Play.
