Final Fantasy Resonance is the franchise's first HD-2D title

Square Enix's Final Fantasy Resonance, launching October 22, 2026, on PC, PS5, and Switch platforms, is the first Final Fantasy entry to use the HD-2D art style — pixel-art sprites combined with modern lighting and depth-of-field effects. Developed by LANCARSE, it adapts a Brave Exvius mobile storyline into a standalone turn-based RPG. A playable demo was announced at State of Play.
