London Mayor Had Car Tax Fine Cancelled After Identity Scam

A court cancelled a car tax fine against London Mayor Sadiq Khan after someone fraudulently registered a car in his name. Khan never knew about the case — courts can convict people in their absence for minor offences — and was fined over £340. The driving agency asked the court to drop it. His spokesperson said such scams had targeted the mayor before.
