London Mayor Sadiq Khan's Car Tax Conviction Withdrawn After Fraudulent Registration Scam

Magistrates at Hereford justice centre withdrew a car tax conviction against London Mayor Sadiq Khan on 3 September 2026 after the DVLA requested dismissal. A 24-year-old Nissan Micra had been fraudulently registered in Khan's name. Khan was convicted in his absence under the single justice procedure and fined over £340. His spokesperson said it was not the first such scam targeting the mayor.
