UK Leaders May Shut Down or Boost Social Mobility Watchdog

UK ministers may strengthen or scrap the Social Mobility Commission, The Guardian reports. The commission, a government-backed body meant to track whether people can move up in life, has become little more than an internal research group. Closing it would need new laws. The House of Lords debates the issue on 4 September.
