Labour promises a guaranteed public hospital job for every new nurse

Labour's Ayesha Verrall says every new nurse graduating in Aotearoa — about 2,400 a year — would get a job in the public health system. It would cost $525 million from existing health funding. Roles would be near full-time. Health NZ's chief nurse Nadine Gray said the agency currently offers 1,800 places and has never hired every graduate.
