Labour pledges guaranteed public health job for every graduate nurse — 2,400 a year at $525m cost

Labour's health spokesperson Ayesha Verrall has promised every graduate nurse — roughly 2,400 a year — a public health system job at a cost of $525 million drawn from health cost-pressure funding. Positions would be offered at graduation through existing ACE and primary care schemes, at least 0.8 FTE. Health NZ's chief nurse Nadine Gray said the agency currently offers 1,800 roles and has never placed every graduate.
