Victoria Cancels Daniel Andrews Statue and Old Commemoration Rule

Victoria's leader Ben Carroll cancelled a $134,000 statue of former Premier Daniel Andrews. He also ended a 1999 rule that gave statues to premiers serving over 3,000 days. Carroll said public gratitude shouldn't mean a statue paid for by taxpayers. A panel will review how Victoria honors officials, and the statue contract will go to someone new.
