Prime Minister to invite leaders of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to autumn economy meeting

Prime Minister Andy Burnham, in office since 20 July 2026, plans an autumn economic summit with the leaders of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. A similar gathering has met twice a year since October 2024. Northern Ireland's government, which runs its own affairs from Stormont in Belfast, still has no agreed budget after talks with the UK Treasury stalled.
