Burnham to convene first summit of devolved nations' leaders this autumn
Prime Minister Andy Burnham, in office since 20 July 2026, plans to bring together the leaders of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland for an autumn economic summit. The Council of the Nations and Regions, which first met in October 2024, has so far been biannual. Northern Ireland's Executive is still without an agreed Stormont budget after summer Treasury talks stalled.
