Kew Gardens Must Cut Down a Rare Palm — but the Species Is Safe

A rare palm tree at Kew Gardens, once believed to be the only one of its kind in human care, must be cut down for a 2027 building renovation. The species survived because Kew researchers found wild palms on the Comoros islands and grew new plants from them; 10 now live in Kew's nursery.
