Kew Must Fell Its Only Ravenea moorei Palm — but a Wild Discovery Saved the Species

A male Ravenea moorei palm at Kew Gardens, once thought to be the only one in cultivation, must be cut down for a Palm House renovation starting in 2027. Kew researchers found a wild population in the Comoros, enabling propagation; 10 young plants now grow in Kew's tropical nursery.
