Thieves Steal 400,000 Young Oysters from Australian Farm Hit by Floods
Police confirmed on 26 August that 400,000 young oysters worth $350,000–$400,000 were stolen from Latitude 31 Oyster Co on Oxley Island, NSW. The farm had been rebuilding after floods in 2021 and 2025 destroyed its oyster supply. Sydney rock oysters take three years to grow large enough to sell, meaning full recovery could take another two years.
