Two Candidates Named Dan Sullivan Will Both Appear on Alaska's Senate Ballot
Alaska's 2026 Senate ballot will list two Republicans named Dan Sullivan after the state Supreme Court let a retired teacher rejoin the race. He won 2.5% of primary votes — about double the gap between the incumbent senator (43%) and Democrat Mary Peltola (48%). Under Alaska's ranked-choice voting, voters rank candidates by preference. If the challenger's supporters don't list the incumbent as their second choice, their ballots stop counting before anyone reaches a majority.
