Ontario's Leader Threatens to Cut Electricity and Mineral Shipments to the US
Ontario's leader, Doug Ford, warned he could stop sending electricity and rare minerals to the US. It is the latest escalation in a trade fight — a dispute where both sides tax each other's goods. The US slapped 50% taxes on about $20bn of Canadian products starting August 22, 2026. Canada fired back with taxes on C$27.6bn of US goods from September 8.
