Woodside Energy drops climate pollution goals and clean energy spending promise
Woodside Energy, under new CEO Liz Westcott, dropped its targets for customer pollution — the biggest part of an oil and gas company's carbon footprint — and cancelled a US$5bn promise to invest in clean energy by 2030. Its US ammonia business is under review. Half-year profit rose 27% to US$1.67bn. Climate group Market Forces criticised the move. A shareholder Q&A is set for 27 August.
