Woodside Energy scraps scope 3 emissions targets and US$5bn clean energy investment pledge
Woodside Energy, under new CEO Liz Westcott, will "retire" its scope 3 targets — covering customer emissions, the largest share of any oil and gas producer's carbon footprint — and dropped its US$5bn pledge for hydrogen and other new energy products by 2030. Its US ammonia business is under strategic review. The move coincided with half-year results showing a 27% profit rise to US$1.67bn and a higher dividend. Climate group Market Forces criticised the decision. A shareholder Q&A is set for 27 August.
