Two UN Peacekeepers Killed in South Sudan Attack

On 24 August 2026, armed men ambushed a UN team traveling near Pajut, South Sudan, killing two Ethiopian peacekeepers (soldiers sent to protect civilians) and wounding seven others. The UN mission condemned the attack. South Sudan's 2018 peace agreement is falling apart, and attacks on aid workers have more than doubled compared with last year.
