Two Ethiopian UN Peacekeepers Killed in South Sudan Ambush
Unidentified armed men attacked a UN patrol heading toward Pajut in Jonglei state on 24 August 2026, killing two Ethiopian peacekeepers and wounding seven others, including police and civilian staff. UNMISS deployed a Quick Reaction Force and condemned the attack. The violence comes as South Sudan's 2018 power-sharing agreement collapses and attacks on aid workers more than double year over year.
