Tesla Drops Its Solar Roof Tiles

Tesla has stopped selling its Solar Roof, a product that turned roof tiles into solar panels, and removed it from its website. Electrek broke the story on August 20, 2026; TechCrunch confirmed it the next day. Launched around October 2016, it never came close to Tesla's goal of 1,000 installs a week, hitting only 20–40 by 2022. Two installers still offer it from leftover stock.
