Pentagon Tells Military Newspaper to Drop Major News Sources

Stars and Stripes, a daily newspaper for U.S. troops funded by the Pentagon and read by 1.4 million people, will stop using news from Reuters and the Associated Press. Instead it will cover combat, weapons, and fitness. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell called it modernization. Editor Erik Slavin called editorial independence his "foxhole."
