TerraPower's Nuclear Plant Costs Ten Times a Gas Plant

TerraPower's planned nuclear plant may cost $9.4 billion for 345 megawatts of power — about ten times what a gas plant costs. In January 2026, Meta agreed to buy eight such plants. No new-type reactor has yet been finished in the U.S. Whether costs drop enough depends on the Wyoming plant now being built.
