A system that could save water sits unused during a drought

The UK's largest system for reusing water, built in a Cambridgeshire neighborhood, has been switched off since 2021. Safety regulators say it doesn't meet their rules. The local water company built it to save each person 25 litres a day. Now a 2026 drought has brought hosepipe bans across the area — and the system still sits idle.
