Quebec Separatist Leader Says No Independence Vote While Trump Is President

The leader of Quebec's separatist party, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, says if his party wins power it will not hold a vote on leaving Canada while Donald Trump is U.S. president. That vote would wait until after Trump's term ends in January 2029. He said American politics shouldn't distract from the independence debate. His party currently leads polls before Quebec's 2026 election.
